Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, declared, “Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan must first resign for a fair and transparent discussion to take place in Parliament.” Adding to the chamber’s tension, Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee was suspended for the remainder of the Monsoon session due to the use of “unsavoury” language during a heated exchange.

The political standoff intensifies following a massive “Chalo Sansad” march organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and student groups, which met with a heavy police crackdown involving tear gas and lathi-charges. In protest against this police action, top Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra staged a high-profile dharna outside the Prime Minister’s official residence, leading to their brief detention.
